Kenneth D. Pimple, Ph.D. is Director of Teaching Research Ethics Programs at the Poynter Center for the Study of Ethics and American Institutions, an endowed center at Indiana University Bloomington, and Senior Advisor for the Ethics Collaborative Online Research Environment (Ethics CORE) based at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He has more than twenty years of experience in organizing faculty workshops on ethics and research ethics.
In 2009 he received a grant from the National Science Foundation to lead a project examining ethical issues in pervasive ICT, which led to his editing a book of original chapters, Emerging Pervasive Information and Communication Technologies (PICT): Ethical Challenges, Opportunities and Safeguards.
Since 1993 he has directed the annual Teaching Research Ethics Workshop for researchers from the sciences and other fields. In its twenty years, the workshop has attracted 719 participants from 49 U.S. states and territories and 15 foreign countries.
He also directed Scientists and Subjects: An Online Seminar on the Ethics of Research with Human Subjects, an annual seminar funded by the National Institutes of Health, from 1999-2006. In its seven years, the seminar was successfully completed by 87 people from 29 states, the District of Columbia, and 8 foreign countries.
